Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ROUTN and routn.app handle information when you use the ROUTN iOS app or visit routn.app.

The short version

• ROUTN has no account or sign-in.
• Training data is stored locally on your iPhone.
• ROUTN has no own backend and no ROUTN cloud sync.
• The iOS app contains no advertising SDK and no cross-app tracking SDK.
• Location is optional and used only for features that require it.
• Apple Health is optional and read-only.
• Subscriptions are processed by Apple.

Data stored by the ROUTN app

ROUTN stores your plan setup, completed workouts and runs, progress and app settings locally on your device.

ROUTN does not maintain a server-side copy of this training data.

Retention

Data stored locally in ROUTN remains on your device until you delete it, reset the relevant app data, or delete the ROUTN app.

ROUTN does not keep a separate ROUTN server-side copy of this training history.

Location

If you grant location access, ROUTN uses your location for features such as finding cafés, creating nearby running routes and tracking a run.

ROUTN requests location access only for location-dependent use of the app. It does not request always-on location access.

During an active run, location tracking may continue while the screen is locked so the run can be recorded.

Map search and route calculation use Apple mapping services.

Where weather information is displayed, ROUTN uses Apple Weather.

Apple receives the information necessary to answer those requests and processes that information under Apple’s own applicable privacy terms.

When you use a location-dependent ROUTN feature, location data is processed as necessary to provide that requested feature under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. iOS location permission acts as the technical permission control for access to the device location.

You can change or withdraw ROUTN’s location access at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security, Location Services, ROUTN. Withdrawing access prevents location-dependent features from using your device location until you grant access again.

Apple Health

Connecting Apple Health is optional.

If you authorize access, ROUTN reads:

• Steps
• Active Energy
• Heart Rate
• Workouts

ROUTN uses this information to support Daily Move progress and relevant workout or run information.

ROUTN does not write data to Apple Health.

You can change or withdraw ROUTN’s Health access through Apple Health or iOS settings.

Reminders

Workout reminders are scheduled locally on your device.

ROUTN does not operate a push-notification server.

Purchases

ROUTN CLUB subscriptions are purchased through Apple’s App Store.

Apple processes the transaction.

ROUTN does not receive your payment card details.

Photos

ROUTN may request Photos access when you choose to save a share card or select your own photo for use in a share card.

ROUTN does not use your Photos library for advertising or cross-app tracking.

You can change or withdraw ROUTN’s Photos access at any time through iOS Settings. If access is withdrawn, features that need Photos permission may be unavailable until you grant access again.

Support communications

If you contact ROUTN by email, ROUTN receives the email address you use, the content of your message and technical email metadata needed to deliver and respond to the message.

Support communications are used only to answer your request, troubleshoot issues, protect the service where necessary and maintain records where required by law.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where processing is necessary to respond to a request connected with your use of ROUTN, and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for general enquiries, service security and the efficient handling of support. Our legitimate interest is providing reliable support and protecting the service.

Support messages are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the request and any applicable legal or record-keeping obligations. Email transmission and hosting may involve the email providers used by you and ROUTN.

Tracking and analytics in the app

The ROUTN iOS app contains no advertising SDK and no analytics or cross-app tracking SDK.

ROUTN does not track users across other companies’ apps or websites.

The app’s privacy manifest declares no tracking and no tracking domains.

Website hosting

routn.app is hosted on Vercel.

Vercel may process technical request information necessary to deliver and secure routn.app, such as IP address, requested URL, user-agent information, timestamps and similar request metadata.

The legal basis for this processing is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is operating a secure, reliable and technically functional website.

Technical hosting information is retained according to the applicable Vercel service, security and abuse-prevention settings.

routn.app has no analytics scripts, no advertising scripts, no contact forms, no newsletter and no accounts.

Theme preference

If you change the site’s appearance, your browser stores your theme preference locally under the key “routn-theme”.

This local storage is used only to remember the appearance you explicitly selected on that device. It is not used for advertising, analytics, cross-site tracking or user profiling.

Legal bases

We process personal data only where there is a legal basis under applicable data-protection law.

Where ROUTN processes information necessary to provide an app feature that you request, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract or steps taken at your request).

Where ROUTN accesses Apple Health data, access occurs only after you expressly authorize the relevant HealthKit data types. To the extent Apple Health data constitutes special-category health data, the legal basis is your explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a) GDPR together with Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.

You can withdraw Apple Health access at any time through Apple Health or iOS settings. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before access was withdrawn.

Where routn.app processes technical request information necessary to deliver, secure and operate the website, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is operating a secure, reliable and technically functional website.

Where we are required to process information to comply with a legal obligation, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.

Service providers and recipients

• Apple App Store and StoreKit for purchases and subscriptions
• Apple mapping services for map, search and route functionality
• Apple Weather for weather information
• Apple Health and HealthKit for optional authorized health data access
• Vercel for hosting, delivery, security and technical operation of routn.app
• Email service providers used by you and ROUTN when you contact support by email

ROUTN itself does not operate a backend that stores your ROUTN training history.

ROUTN only uses third-party services for app and website functionality where their applicable terms, privacy commitments and legal obligations provide protection for the data involved that is the same or equivalent in substance to the protections described in this Privacy Policy, taking account of the provider’s role and applicable law.

International processing

Vercel and Apple operate globally and may process information in countries outside the European Economic Area.

Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, the relevant service provider applies the transfer mechanisms and safeguards described in its applicable privacy and data-protection documentation.

Vercel states in its Privacy Notice that it complies with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and uses Standard Contractual Clauses or other appropriate legal mechanisms where required for international transfers.

Age

ROUTN is intended for users aged 16 and older.

If you are under 18, you should use ROUTN only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian.

ROUTN is not designed as a children’s app.

Your rights

Depending on the applicable data-protection law, you may have rights including:

• deletion
• restriction of processing
• objection to processing
• data portability
• withdrawal of consent where consent is the legal basis

Deleting your data

Because ROUTN training data is stored locally on your device, deleting the ROUTN app removes ROUTN’s local app data from that device.

Deleting the app does not cancel an active App Store subscription.

Subscriptions are managed through your Apple account.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when ROUTN, routn.app or applicable legal requirements change.

The current version will be published on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
